Vietnam Military Enhances Mechanical Skills at National Competition

The Vietnam People's Army successfully concluded its 6th National Mechanical Skills Competition, awarding the "Golden Hand" title to 60 outstanding technicians. The competition, held at the Z129 Factory under the Ministry of National Defence, saw intense contests over four days. 109 technicians from 16 units across the country competed in six trades: lathe operation, milling, welding, cold working, CNC lathe, and CNC milling. In the theoretical tests, all participants achieved good or excellent results, with nearly 90% rated as excellent. The practical tests also saw all submitted works meeting technical standards, with many products demonstrating high precision in dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and aesthetics. Notably, the new CNC lathe and CNC milling categories showcased participants' proficiency in mastering digital technology and modern equipment. Judges commended the participants' serious and professional work ethic, strict adherence to technological processes, and safety regulations. Several high-quality products created during the competition are expected to serve as training materials for units. The event served as a platform for exchange, experience sharing, fostering passion for the profession, and affirming the role of skilled technicians in developing the defense industry. General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, stated that the competition's success was a result of the leadership and guidance of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, direct and regular support from the General Department of Politics, and the close, responsible coordination of relevant agencies and units, along with the determination of the organizing committee, judges, and participating teams. The organizing committee presented awards to individuals and collectives with outstanding achievements, encouraging further skill development and the cultivation of a highly skilled technical workforce capable of mastering modern science and technology. This competition not only proves the high professionalism and technical skills of Vietnam's military technicians but also underscores the importance of strengthening the foundation for future defense capabilities.
