Vietnam-Laos Ties Invaluable Asset: Lao Ambassador to Russia

Lao Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Minh Tam expressed confidence that Vietnam and Laos will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder to gain even greater attainments in the Doi Moi process and jointly advance toward socialism. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to work closely with Laos to resolve difficulties and facilitate operations and investment by businesses from both countries. He encouraged large-scale projects with strong connectivity and spillover effects that can make practical contributions to their respective socio-economic development. For the remainder of 2026, the two sides agreed to maintain strong political and diplomatic coordination and effectively implement the high-level agreements and bilateral 2026 cooperation plan. Alongside relations between the two States, people-to-people exchanges have always served as an important foundation for bringing Vietnam-Laos ties closer to the community. Cultural, educational, academic and youth exchanges, friendship activities and community connectivity programmes have helped deepen mutual understanding, trust and affection between the Vietnamese and Lao people. Vietnam has called on China to facilitate Vietnamese agricultural exports, deepen cooperation on quarantine and soon sign a memorandum of understanding designating Vietnam as the featured country for the "Shared Big Market: Export to China Series Activities" in 2027. In the coming time, the Vietnamese Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defence hope to work with their Chinese counterparts to maintain, develop, and strengthen the agreed-upon areas of cooperation, effectively sustain existing cooperation mechanisms, and foster increasingly substantive ties, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang. Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam held a meeting on September 15 in Canberra with several opposition and independent lawmakers in the Parliament of Australia to discuss measures to boost bilateral cooperation and strengthen parliamentary ties between the two nations in the coming period. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that institutions must stay one step ahead and pave the way for development. Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue strengthening political trust through regular visits and contacts at all levels, especially the high level, while making effective use of existing cooperation mechanisms and coordinating in implementing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership effectively. At the first Vietnam-Burundi political consultation, the two sides shared information on their countries' recent socio-economic development and foreign policies, reviewed the implementation of signed memoranda of understanding, and discussed measures to promote bilateral cooperation. New Zealand looks forward to building on the achievements made and further promoting cooperation with Vietnam in the coming years, said Deputy Secretary of the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Grahame Morton. Austrian leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation across various fields, particularly those where the two countries share strengths, common interests and cooperation potential.
