Provisional Government Discusses MNDAA Establishing Political Party and Entering Elections, and Kokang Side Reopening Border Gates

AYEYARWADDY TIMES September 25 It is known that the National Unity and Peace Consolidation Committee (NSPNC) of the provisional government urged the Kokang group (MNDAA), which controls many areas in northern Shan State, to establish a political party and participate in elections during a meeting in Naypyidaw. At the meeting held yesterday, September 24, NSPNC Chairman Lt. Gen. Ray Zay stated that to resolve conflicts that have occurred since 2009 through political means and to further realize the Kokang Self-Administered Zone, the party should register with the Union Election Commission and participate in elections in accordance with the 2008 Constitution and the Political Parties Registration Law. Furthermore, during the discussions, the Kokang delegation primarily discussed mutual cooperation on maintaining the current regional stability, equality among ethnic groups, combating online scams (Jangfang) and narcotics, reopening closed border trade gates, and ensuring the safety of Chinese projects crossing the border. It is also observed in the newspapers of the provisional government army that MNDAA is specially mentioned with the party name "Myanmar True Justice National Party (MNTJP / MNDAA)". From the NSPNC side, Chairman Lt. Gen. Ray Zay, Secretary Lt. Gen. Min Naing, and committee members attended the meeting, while from the Kokang side, representatives including MNTJP Politburo General Secretary (2) U Phone Win Naing, MNTJP Politburo and Political Department Head U Kyin Shing, and MNDAA Army General Staff Deputy Chief of Staff U Lee Si Gyi attended.
