Thailand's Senior Athletics Championship to be Held in Phetchabun in 2025

Phetchabun Province in central Thailand has announced its readiness to host the 31st Thailand National Masters Athletics Championship from January 27-31, 2025. The event aims to promote the health and well-being of seniors and elevate the standards of masters athletics in Thailand to an international level. The championship will be integrated with the Thailand Open Masters Games, running under the title "31st Thailand National Masters Athletics Championship presented by Thailand Open Masters Games." Adhering to the rules of the World Masters Athletics (WMA), the competition will feature 37 events across track, field, relays, and race walking, categorized into 14 age groups for men and women. According to Mr. Wijit Phrupputtipan, President of the Phetchabun Provincial Sports Association, the province is prepared with venues at Phetchabun Sports University and Phetchabun Rajabhat University, along with accommodation and transportation facilities, promising a warm welcome to all participants. Mr. Wiwat Wikrantanot, Honorary President of the Thai Masters Athletics Association and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed optimism that the championship will serve as a platform for friendship and experience exchange among athletes, while also boosting tourism and the economy of Phetchabun. He also mentioned the association's support for athletes participating in major international events, including sending over 50 individuals to the "2026 World Masters Athletics Championships Daegu" in late August and supporting participation in the "Asian Marathon Championship" in Huangshan, China in November. The event is expected to attract approximately 2,000 athletes from 60 masters athletics clubs across Thailand, along with international participants from 15 countries, competing for over 500 gold medals.
