Pyin Oo Lwin-Gok Htit RBE train derails

An RBE train traveling from Pyin Oo Lwin to Gok Htit (1) derailed on August 1st around 8 AM between Pyin Oo Lwin station and Pwekauk station, as heavy rainfall covered the train tracks with sand and soil, according to Myanma Railways. The derailment occurred while passing through an illegal railway crossing constructed from Pyin Oo Lwin to Moejyo village, it was reported. There were 61 passengers on the train, and no passengers or staff were injured. The passengers were picked up by another RBE train from Pyin Oo Lwin station and transported back, with their ticket fares being refunded upon their return to Pyin Oo Lwin station, it was learned. Officials from Myanma Railways and track/wagon workers arrived at the scene and worked to reopen the railway line on the same day, it was reported.
