Siem Reap Job Forum Attracts Over 1,000 Former Thai Workers Seeking Skills and Employment
A job forum held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on July 10-11 saw over 1,200 participants, including former Thai migrant workers. According to Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, 134 former Thai migrant workers and citizens registered for technical training courses at the forum. Furthermore, 169 individuals (preliminary figure) secured immediate employment from major companies, factories, and enterprises that set up booths at the venue to recruit labor. Mr. Mesa urged former Thai migrant workers and citizens who could not attend the forum to contact the Ministry of Labour's hotline, 1297. The hotline operates seven days a week, providing information on employment opportunities and free technical and vocational training. This initiative reflects the Cambodian government's intention to vitalize the domestic economy and foster human resources by providing stable domestic employment and opportunities to acquire future-oriented skills for returning migrant workers from Thailand and the country's youth.
