The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has announced that strict action will be taken if fishing activities are found to be carried out in coastal areas citing weather conditions. It is stated that designating places for national-owned offshore fishing vessels and coastal fishing vessels to take shelter due to weather conditions is for the purpose of allowing fishing vessels and fishermen to take refuge safely and securely during the monsoon season when the weather is severe. The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has also issued instructions dated June 9, stating that national-owned offshore fishing vessels and coastal fishing vessels engaged in fishing activities within Myanmar's marine fishing waters can take shelter due to weather conditions at designated locations to withstand waves and winds during severe weather in the monsoon season. The designated locations for taking shelter due to weather conditions include the Min Gan stream in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State, Phraung Ka Island in Pauktaw Township, Ngala Pwè stream in Kyaukpyu Township, Sin Gône Port and Thabru Chaing in Thandwe Township, the ship landing in Taungup Township, and Tin Taw village group and Amaw Chaing in Gwa Township. Furthermore, according to the announcement, locations in Ayeyarwady Region include Hai Gyi Island and Chaung Oo village in Ngaputaw Township, Kadon Kani village in Bogale Township, Wa Htaung Island in Ye Township, Mon State, Maung Ma Kan Boot Island and Laung Lone Boot Island in Laung Lone Township, Tanintharyi Region, Tanintharyi Island in Mergui Township, and Pin Se Boot Island in Kyunsu Township.
