Vietnam and South Korea Agree to Deepen Infrastructure and Economic Cooperation

On the afternoon of July 30, at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary and President To Lam received South Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-deok, who is visiting Vietnam. At the reception, General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed Minister Kim Hyun-deok's visit to Vietnam, expressing his belief that the visit will contribute to promoting economic cooperation between the two countries in particular, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea in general. On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam conveyed warm regards to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, expressing his confidence that under President Lee Jae-myung's leadership, South Korea will continue to achieve even more significant accomplishments in the coming time. General Secretary and President To Lam expressed satisfaction with the substantive achievements in the relations between the two countries in recent times, affirming that Vietnam attaches importance to its relationship with South Korea and wishes to promote the strong development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea, especially in the fields of political cooperation, economy, trade, investment, science-technology, cultural cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. He also mentioned the goal of reaching $150 billion in trade by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable direction, and expressed hope that South Korea will accompany Vietnam in implementing the country's strategic development goals in the coming period. Welcoming the close cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that the two sides enhance experience exchange and promote practical cooperation in areas such as infrastructure construction, renewable energy, shipbuilding technology, and high-quality human resource development, all of which are priority development areas for Vietnam in the new era. For his part, Minister Kim Hyun-deok conveyed warm regards from South Korean President Lee Jae-myung to General Secretary and President To Lam and other senior Vietnamese leaders. Congratulating Vietnam on its significant achievements in socio-economic development in recent times, Minister Kim Hyun-deok expressed his belief that under the leadership of General Secretary and President To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve new successes, realizing the goal of making Vietnam a developing country with modern industry by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045. On this occasion, Minister Kim Hyun-deok handed over a letter from South Korean President Lee Jae-myung to General Secretary and President To Lam, affirming the desire to promote cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that South Korea is ready to share development experiences in areas where South Korea has strengths and Vietnam has needs, and that South Korea will be one of the reliable partners to accompany Vietnam in implementing the country's development goals in the coming time.
