Vietnam Proposes 9 Prohibitions for Parent-Teacher Representative Boards

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training has announced a draft regulation to clarify the activities of Parent-Teacher Representative Boards in schools. The draft includes nine prohibitions for these boards, aiming to improve educational quality and ensure fairness in school operations. According to the released draft, Parent-Teacher Representative Boards are prohibited from interfering with the school's organizational structure, management, implementation of educational programs, curriculum, teaching methods, student assessments, and professional activities. This measure is intended to maintain the professionalism of educational institutions and prevent undue external influence. Furthermore, the draft strictly prohibits the misuse of the Parent-Teacher Representative Board's name for illegal acts or actions that infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of students, teachers, and parents. This provision aims to ensure that the board's activities are conducted transparently and fairly, protecting the rights of all involved parties. The new draft regulation is currently open for public consultation. It is seen as part of the efforts within Vietnam's single-party system to enhance the efficiency and transparency of educational administration.
