PAN Reaffirms Commitment to Prabowo, Citing Shared Ideals
National Mandate Party (PAN) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan confirmed his party's continued alliance with President Prabowo Subianto, emphasizing it's driven by shared ideals and values forged over three presidential elections, not just government formation interests.
JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party Zulkifli Hasan or commonly called Zulhas confirmed that his party would continue to be with President Prabowo Subianto. He said PAN's relationship with Prabowo had passed three presidential elections and was not solely based on the interests of forming a government. Zulhas made the statement at the 28th anniversary of PAN at the JICC Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, September 18, 2026. "PAN will continue to be with the President. Because we have the same ideals of struggle," said Zulhas in front of Prabowo and PAN cadres. Zulhas said PAN's political journey with Prabowo did not last long. His party still survived even though it had previously been on the losing side in presidential elections twice. "We lost twice, but now we are happy to win." He said the decision to remain with Prabowo was not just a matter of political calculation. Zulhas said PAN saw common views, especially regarding Article 33 and Article 34 of the 1945 Constitution and the partiality of the community group which was considered to need state support. Zulhas also recalled the time when political support for Prabowo was not as big as it is now. He admitted that he had visited Prabowo when he was still serving as Minister of Defense and stated that PAN would remain together even though Gerindra had to go it alone. According to Zulhas, the similarity of values is the reason PAN continues to be in Prabowo's political line until the current government. Source: VOI English
