The flight attendant, identified only as Meena, 26, was arrested at Melbourne airport on June 25 with 1.8 kilograms of heroin concealed within the linings of two embroidered tote bags featuring elephant and "Thailand" patterns. She had been hired online for 3,400 baht to transport 12 such bags to Melbourne. Meena is currently in custody in Melbourne and faces a potential prison sentence of up to 25 years if convicted. Her first court appearance is scheduled for September 14. Investigators have discovered that the drug cartel, allegedly led by the Lao suspects, employed a network of different groups for various tasks. These groups operated independently, unaware of each other's roles, which helped to shield the operation and hinder authorities' efforts to identify the masterminds.
