Takeo Province Launches 30-Day Dengue Fever Eradication Campaign

The Takeo Provincial Department of Health in Cambodia has initiated a 30-day special campaign aimed at eradicating dengue fever outbreaks. A meeting, chaired by Provincial Health Director Mr. Phan Vath, meticulously reviewed the campaign's plans. Participants included the Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Health, the Director and Deputy Director of Takeo Provincial Referral Hospital, heads and deputy heads of the six district health offices within the province, and program managers for dengue fever control at both provincial and district levels. Director Phan Vath underscored the risks of dengue fever during the rainy season and instructed health officials and expert teams to diligently implement this 30-day campaign to achieve positive results, prevent the spread of infection, and eliminate mosquito breeding sources in a timely manner. Specific measures include promoting environmental sanitation around residences and eliminating water-holding containers that serve as mosquito breeding sites, such as old tires, coconut shells, plastic bags, cans, and glass bottles. The campaign will also involve spraying the larvicide 'Abate' into water jars, tanks, and containers in households. Insecticide fogging will be conducted around high-risk areas and zones suspected of dengue fever outbreaks. All hospitals and health centers are required to pay close attention to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of dengue fever patients according to technical standards and with utmost caution. Plans are also in place to collaborate with the Ministry of Health to organize additional training courses for medical personnel at provincial and district referral hospitals to enhance the quality of dengue fever treatment. Director Phan Vath appealed to residents throughout Takeo Province to cooperate with authorities and health officials in maintaining hygiene around their homes and protecting children from mosquito bites, thereby encouraging collective efforts to safeguard the health of families and the entire community.
