Philippines Moves to Remove Excise Tax on LPG and Kerosene

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Frederick Go signed on Tuesday a resolution removing excise tax on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene. Go announced in the middle of the DOF’s budget hearing of the Senate finance subcommittee, following Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go’s call to help ease fuel costs in the country as He said the resolution was signed on Tuesday. “This is to help our countrymen, especially those who are using LPG and kerosene,” Go said. He said that the prices of LPG and kerosene have been increasing due to the oil price hike. “This is to help them, especially the poor,” he added. He said that the removal of excise tax on LPG and kerosene will help in the reduction of prices of these commodities. He said that the government is doing its best to help the Filipinos. “We are doing our best to help our countrymen,” he said. He said that the government is also looking at other measures to help ease fuel costs in the country. “We are looking at other measures to help ease fuel costs,” he said.
