Cambodia Prepares for Multilateral Parliamentary Dialogue on Responsible Investment for Food Security and Climate Action
Cambodia's National Assembly held a preparatory meeting to review progress for the upcoming "Multilateral Parliamentary Dialogue on Responsible Investment for Food Security and Climate Action," scheduled for August 24-27, 2026, in Phnom Penh. The event aims to advance ASEAN's agenda on Responsible Investment in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry (ASEAN RAI), bringing together legislative bodies, governments, development partners, and the private sector.
Cambodia's National Assembly convened a meeting on August 7, 2026, to review the progress of preparations for the "Multilateral Parliamentary Dialogue on Responsible Investment for Food Security and Climate Action." This significant conference is slated to take place in Phnom Penh from August 24 to 27, 2026. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Sous Yara, Chairman of the National Assembly's Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information. Attendees included members of parliament, representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Commerce, the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and leaders from the General Secretariat of the National Assembly. H.E. Sous Yara emphasized that this meeting clearly demonstrates the active role and high commitment of the Cambodian National Assembly in advancing ASEAN's agenda on "Responsible Investment in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry" (ASEAN RAI). The primary objective of the dialogue is to strengthen parliamentary understanding and cooperation in line with ASEAN's guidelines for promoting responsible investment in food, agriculture, and forestry, as well as the ASEAN Parliamentary Action Framework (ASEAN RAI 2024-2030). This regional dialogue is anticipated to serve as a crucial policy and strategic platform for exchanging views, sharing experiences, and enhancing cooperation among legislative bodies (parliaments), the government, relevant ministries and institutions, international development partners, the private sector, and other stakeholders. The collective effort aims to promote green and responsible investment, which is a key catalyst for ensuring food security, advancing sustainable development, and responding to climate change throughout the ASEAN region.
