Denpasar Doctor and Mother Named Suspects in Child's Origin Concealment Case

A doctor in Denpasar, Bali, identified as KC, and her mother, L, have been named suspects in a case of allegedly concealing a child's origins. The charges stem from a report filed by KC's husband, RSL. Kompol Agus Riwayanto Diputra, head of the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, confirmed the suspect designations and stated that the investigation is ongoing. KC and L were scheduled to undergo their first examination as suspects at the Denpasar Police headquarters, accompanied by their lawyer, Siti Sapurah, also known as Ipung. KC was seen carrying her infant child upon arrival. "Currently, investigators are still working and the investigation process is ongoing. Today, the individuals concerned are scheduled to undergo examination in their capacity as suspects," said Agus. He requested time for the investigators to work professionally and according to procedure, promising further updates. Ipung stated her intention to request the marriage certificate, reportedly held by RSL, from investigators. This document is deemed necessary for the child's birth certificate. She mentioned that previous requests for the document were denied. Furthermore, Ipung plans to file a pre-trial motion to challenge the validity of the suspect designations. "I will proceed with a pre-trial," she added. Meanwhile, RSL's lawyer, Anak Agung Ngurah Alit Wirakesuma, expressed respect for the ongoing investigation process at the Denpasar Police and readiness to proceed to the Denpasar District Prosecutor's Office. "We respect the investigation process conducted by the Polresta. God willing, the suspects have been designated," he stated. The case was initially reported by RSL in March 2026, under Article 401 of the Criminal Code concerning the concealment of a person's origin. The report was based on RSL's name not being listed as a guarantor in the administrative procedures at the hospital where their child was born.
