Thai police urgently searching for group of Myanmar youths who beat, robbed, and spat on a Thai teenager in Pattaya

Yangon, May 18 According to Thai news reports, Thai police are urgently searching for a group of Myanmar youths who surrounded and assaulted a 16-year-old Thai teenager in Pattaya, stole his shoes, and spat on him in an act of humiliation. On the night of May 16, near Wat Chong Lom temple on Sukhumvit Road in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, the Thai teenager and two friends first encountered a group of about 10 Myanmar youths gathered near the Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya. When one of the Myanmar youths shouted, "Why are you looking at me? " the Thai teenager immediately drove away on his motorcycle to avoid trouble. However, the group of Myanmar youths followed the teenager on three or four motorcycles for nearly 5 kilometers (about 3 miles), forced him to stop on the side of the road, and surrounded him. While his two friends managed to escape to the other side of the road, the teenager was caught and subjected to severe, continuous punching and kicking by the group. Furthermore, the Myanmar youths destroyed the teenager's motorcycle, stole his shoes, tore his jacket, and spat on him before fleeing the scene. The Thai teenager stated that he felt deeply humiliated and insulted by these actions. Currently, the victim has officially filed a complaint with the Bang Lamung District Police. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from along the route to identify the perpetrators and are working to apprehend them.
