Thailand to Demine Unexploded Ordnance Near Cambodian Border

Thailand is set to conduct demining operations for unexploded ordnance (UXO) in an area facing Banteay Ampil district, Samrong town, Oddar Meanchey province, from September 14 to 18, 2026. According to Brigadier General Nit Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region, who announced the information on his social media on September 12, 2026, the Thai side will be carrying out the demining operations. The operations are scheduled to take place daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Residents and armed forces stationed in the border areas of Banteay Ampil district, Samrong town, Oddar Meanchey province, are advised that loud explosions may be heard during this period due to the demining activities. Brigadier General Nit Narong urged all relevant parties to be aware of the upcoming operations and to take necessary precautions.
