Under the MoU on Drug Control, Myanmar and Thailand are conducting joint operations to identify and arrest wanted drug fugitives. On September 10, Myanmar transferred three wanted drug fugitives to Thailand through the No. 2 Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge. The fugitives were arrested on July 11 by the Myanmar Anti-Narcotic Task Force and the Shan State Police Force in Tachileik. They were handed over to Thai officials, along with six other wanted drug fugitives, under Section 7(2) of the Immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act. Under the bilateral drug control program, Myanmar and Thailand cooperate in identifying and arresting fugitives who have committed drug-related crimes and fled across the border, where they may continue to engage in cross-border drug activities.
