Jokowi's 'Fake Diploma' Lawsuit Resumes After Defendant's Objection Halts Proceedings

Jakarta (CNN Indonesia) – The trial concerning allegations of a fake diploma for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) against defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Dr. Tifa, will resume next week on Thursday, August 6, at the East Jakarta District Court. Previously, the trial was halted after the panel of judges granted the defendant's objection (eksepsi), stating that the prosecutor's indictment was "inaccurate and vague," thus legally void, and preventing the case from proceeding to the evidence stage. According to the spokesperson for the East Jakarta District Court, Immanuel, the prosecution has since revised the indictment and re-submitted it to the court on July 28, under case number 354/Pid.B/2026/PN Jktim. Immanuel confirmed that the first hearing next week will begin from the start with the reading of the new, amended indictment. The panel of judges for this case will be chaired by Christina Endarwati, with judges Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina as members. The case, which revolves around questions regarding President Jokowi's academic credentials, has garnered significant public attention in Indonesia.
