Cambodia: Six Chinese nationals arrested for alleged kidnapping, victim rescued

Six Chinese nationals have been arrested in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on suspicion of involvement in a kidnapping case, and one victim has been safely rescued. The operation was carried out jointly by the Kampot Provincial Gendarmerie and the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie. The incident took place in the early hours of August 7th, at a building located along Sisowath Street in the Srah Chak commune, Doun Penh district, near the riverside in the capital. Specialized forces, after extensive investigation and surveillance, identified the suspects' hideout and launched the raid. Initially, the Kampot Provincial Gendarmerie had been collecting information and identifying suspects. The suspects were believed to have fled from Kampot province and were hiding in Phnom Penh. Based on this intelligence, a cooperative effort was established with the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie, leading to the encirclement of the target building and the detention of the six Chinese suspects. One individual, believed to be the victim of the kidnapping, was found at the scene and immediately secured for their safety.
