Ayeyarwady River Water Level Significantly Rises in Minbu (Saku) Township

The water level of the Ayeyarwady River is rising significantly in Minbu (Saku) Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, and river water has begun to reach the outskirts of some low-lying villages within the township, according to residents of Htonema Gyi Village. Although the situation of river water intrusion is not yet alarming, residents living along the banks of the Ayeyarwady River need to be aware and cautious of the dangers of floods, overflows, and bank erosion that can occur during the rainy season, said U Myo Zaw Win, the acting township administrator. Furthermore, it is reported that awareness campaigns and disaster simulation drills for water-related and natural disasters within the township are being continuously conducted in cooperation with relevant departments and humanitarian aid organizations. The warning water level for the Ayeyarwady River in Minbu (Saku) Township is 1700 centimeters. According to observations by the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology at 12:30 PM on July 4th, the Ayeyarwady River water level in Minbu town has reached 1393 centimeters, meaning it is still 307 centimeters below the warning level. It is understood that river water typically begins to enter low-lying wards and villages within the township only after the Ayeyarwady River water level exceeds 1500 centimeters.
