612,000 Meth Pills Seized After 100km Chase in Chumphon

In Chumphon, Thailand, officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Highway Police have arrested three men and seized approximately 612,000 methamphetamine pills and cash following a high-speed pursuit that spanned over 100 kilometers. The incident began when Highway Police officers at a checkpoint in Chumphon noticed a suspicious pickup truck and signaled for it to stop. The driver refused and fled, initiating a pursuit that extended across the province for more than 100 kilometers. Eventually, the fleeing driver lost control of the vehicle and sideswiped a 10-wheel truck, bringing the chase to an end. A search of the pickup truck revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine pills in the rear seats and the truck bed. The total number of seized pills reached 612,000, marking this as one of the significant drug busts in Thailand. The three arrested individuals, including the 28-year-old driver, are believed to be involved in transporting the narcotics. The seized cash is presumed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
