Local diplomacy proactively creates development space: Deputy FM

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van stated that Party, State, and people-to-people diplomacy are now tightly coordinated at the local level, proactively creating development space for Vietnam. With the support and coordination of local foreign affairs agencies, more than 900 international agreements have been signed, renewed, or kept in force at the local level. Additionally, over 2,500 international conferences and seminars have been licensed and staged in localities. This initiative reflects the multi-layered development of Vietnam's foreign policy under its single-party system. By promoting concrete international exchanges at the local level in conjunction with domestic political structures, the aim is to foster economic growth and strengthen ties with the international community. This can be seen as part of Vietnam's diplomatic strategy to diversify its relationships with various countries and broaden its economic and strategic options, especially amidst the complex relationship with China. The revitalization of local diplomacy complements the central government's foreign policy and holds the potential to bring about wider development opportunities. Vietnam prioritizes economic growth, focusing on attracting foreign investment and expanding trade. The signing of international agreements and the organization of conferences at the local level directly contribute to creating specific business opportunities and revitalizing local economies. This forms a foundation supporting the development of Vietnam's manufacturing and export industries, and it is likely to enhance Vietnam's role in international supply chains.
