KNDF reorganises battalions and reorganises into military regions

Photo – (KNDF) Mizzima. The Karenni National Defence Force (KNDF) has announced today (July 21) that it has reorganised its battalions and reorganised them into military regions. According to the announcement, eight battalions under the former KNDF Military Commands 4, 5, and 7 have been reorganised and redesignated as Battalions 5, 6, and 7, and have been organised as Military Region 2. The KNDF stated that seven battalions under Military Commands 2 and 7 have been reorganised and redesignated as Battalions 8, 9, and 10, and have been organised as Military Region 3. Furthermore, the announcement stated that five battalions under Military Commands 3, 5, and 6 have been reorganised and redesignated as Battalions 11, 12, and 14, and have been organised as Military Region 4. The KNDF said that these troop reorganisations were carried out to ensure that the units are formed and built to meet the standards, to become a compact, strong and capable force, to build morale, and to ensure strict adherence to orders, discipline, and laws, as well as to create a single Karenni National Defence Force that the people desire. The announcement also stated that the currently reorganised battalions will continue to carry out their respective military duties based in their respective territories within Karenni State. The KNDF established Military Region 1 "Alpha" in April 2026 and is continuing to establish the remaining military regions.
