Davao-Bukidnon Road Section Reopens to Buses, Light Vehicles

KITAOTAO, Bukidnon — Passenger buses and light vehicles traveling the Cagayan de Oro–Davao route were allowed starting Monday to pass through one section of the damaged Davao–Bukidnon road, a regional public works official announced. Dean Ortiz, Department of Public Works and Highways – Region 11 (DPWH-11) spokesperson, confirmed that one lane at Sitio Marahan, Barangay Marapano, has been cleared for passage after meeting safety standards. This road is a vital segment of the main route connecting Cagayan de Oro and Davao, and its damage had significantly impacted regional logistics and public transportation. The reopening is seen as a crucial step towards normalizing local economic activities and residents' daily lives. However, Ortiz cautioned that repair works are still ongoing in other sections of the road, and it will take more time before all vehicles, especially heavy ones, can fully utilize the route.
