Cambodia Justice Ministry Denies Allegations of 'Fabricated Information' by Rong Chhun's Group

The Cambodian Ministry of Justice has officially denied claims made by prominent activist Rong Chhun and his associates that their petition was rejected by the ministry. Eam Chanthmorkara, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, emphasized that the ministry, as a public institution, always welcomes and receives all complaints or intervention requests from citizens and all relevant parties without discrimination. He explained that all such petitions and requests are examined and processed according to administrative procedures with due diligence. The Ministry of Justice always responds and resolves matters within its legal competence after thorough inspection and research by specialized officials. Regarding Rong Chhun's intervention request, reportedly submitted to the Ministry of Justice on July 1, 2026, Eam Chanthmorkara reiterated that it has been received and is currently in the "stage of thorough inspection and research by specialized officials" for legal action, just like any other petition from the general public. The spokesperson stated that the ministry will respond after its specialized officials have thoroughly inspected and researched the matter, describing this as the normal cautious working procedure of the ministry's legal officers. "Therefore, I completely deny the claims fabricated by Rong Chhun's group that 'Rong Chhun's colleagues brought a document to the Ministry of Justice but were refused by administrative officials.' This statement is untrue and a complete deception of the public. We urge Rong Chhun's group to abandon their bad habit of telling lies or distorting facts to mislead public opinion, pollute the social atmosphere, or damage the information order," the spokesperson strongly stated. He also invited anyone with questions to contact or verify information directly with the Ministry of Justice during working hours.
