Prime Minister Hun Manet has ordered special promotions and waived land title service fees for soldiers who defended national sovereignty during recent border clashes, recognizing their commitment and sacrifice.

KANDAL PROVINCE, July 29, 2026 (KPT) — Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has instructed the commander‑in‑chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to prepare a list of soldiers who defended national sovereignty during recent border clashes for promotion to higher ranks. The order was issued Wednesday during a ceremony in Khsach Kandal district to distribute land ownership certificates. Samdech Thipadei said young soldiers stationed along the frontier had shown commitment and sacrifice during armed clashes and deserved special recognition. “Our young soldiers at the frontier stood to defend the nation. We have to provide them with special recognition by promoting them to higher ranks,” he said. The prime minister noted that promotions are normally carried out annually, but the circumstances required special consideration for those who served on the front line. He said the measure was intended to honour troops who sacrificed during five‑day and 20‑day clashes along the border. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also directed the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the General Department of Taxation to remove land title service fees for soldiers serving at the frontier. He said the steps were part of efforts to strengthen support for the defence sector as Cambodia faces the consequences of recent border tensions. He added that local banks had previously taken measures to ease loan burdens for soldiers stationed at the frontier, and thanked institutions and individuals who had contributed to supporting troops tasked with defending the nation.
