Thailand Aims for Aviation Hub Status by 2029, Accelerating East Terminal Construction

The Thai government is accelerating the construction of the East Terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport, aiming to establish the country as an aviation hub by 2029. Air traffic is projected to grow by 1.6% for passengers and 2.3 million tons for cargo in 2024. Approval for a third cargo terminal is also being sought.
