World Bank Officials Join Cambodian Senate Seminar on Economic Outlook and Vision 2050

The Cambodian Senate hosted a seminar focusing on the nation's current economic situation and its future outlook towards 2050, with participation from World Bank officials. The World Bank representatives presented findings from their latest economic report and offered recommendations for Cambodia's sustained economic growth. Mr. Kong Phallak, Acting Country Manager for the World Bank Cambodia Office, elaborated on the Country Partnership Framework for 2025–2029. This framework is structured around three pillars: strengthening human capital outcomes, enhancing competitiveness for better job creation, and reinforcing resilience for vulnerable families. These pillars align with the Royal Government of Cambodia's "Pentagonal Strategy Phase I." Furthermore, Mr. Ly Sodeth, Senior Country Economist at the World Bank, delivered a presentation on the June 2024 Cambodia Economic Update. The report detailed the current economic conditions, the impacts of recent developments, and opportunities for Cambodia to maintain and strengthen its economic growth prosperity. This seminar served as an opportunity to deepen the collaboration between Cambodia's economic development strategies and international institutions. The World Bank's proposed investments in human capital and competitiveness measures are anticipated to provide crucial guidance for Cambodia in achieving its medium to long-term economic objectives.
