The directive followed a July 13 meeting between APSARA, the Siem Reap provincial culture department, local authorities and heritage police with vendors operating around the temple complex. Officials said the measures aim to ensure visitors wear costumes that reflect historical authenticity and promote Khmer craftsmanship. Chan Sophorn, an expert in ancient Khmer art, told vendors that many rental outfits deviate from traditional styles, using imported fabrics and jewelry from neighboring countries and worn incorrectly.
