PCG to Conduct Final Sweep of M/V June Aster's Engine Room

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will conduct a final sweep of the engine room of the sunken vessel M/V June Aster on Saturday (Sept. 19). According to the PCG, its response team worked on the engine room on Friday (Sept. 18), successfully removing water and gaining access to the flooded compartment. This final sweep is a crucial step in determining the cause of the ship's sinking. The M/V June Aster sank off the coast of Coron, Palawan. The vessel's sinking highlights the importance of safety management systems in maritime transport and the need for swift response capabilities in the event of an accident. As an archipelagic nation with extensive sea lanes, ensuring the safety of maritime traffic is essential for economic activity and the livelihoods of its citizens.
