Cambodian Premier Meets EU Ambassador, Expresses Gratitude for Mine Clearance Support

AKP Phnom Penh, September 24, 2026 — Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Igor Driesmans, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Cambodia and EU Special Envoy for Myanmar, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Thursday afternoon. H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, told reporters after the meeting that Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the EU Ambassador and his colleagues and expressed his pleasure at having the opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest with him. For his part, H.E. Igor Driesmans thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for allowing him and his colleagues to pay the courtesy call and hold discussions. He highlighted the EU’s contributions to Cambodia through various areas of cooperation, including mine clearance. Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his appreciation to the EU for its continued support to Cambodia, particularly its contribution to mine clearance efforts in the country. During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the EU Ambassador also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues. At the conclusion of the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen wished H.E. Igor Driesmans continued success in his diplomatic mission in Cambodia. By C. Nika
