In a press release issued this afternoon, the ministry’s spokeswoman said the incident occurred at about 12:35 p.m. in a cashew plantation in Chouk Kruos village, Thmar Don village, Kouk Mon commune, Banteay Ampil district. The statement said Cambodian forces were conducting a routine patrol when they encountered a patrol from the Royal Thai Armed Forces operating on the opposite side of a barbed-wire fence. Shortly after the two patrols passed each other, an explosive device detonated behind the Cambodian patrol, injuring four personnel with shrapnel wounds. The wounded soldiers are receiving medical treatment from military medical teams and relevant personnel, the ministry said. According to the statement, the frontline command post and technical experts have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and establish the facts surrounding the incident. The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to fully implementing the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) of Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements.
