Thai Parliament Holds Merit-Making Ceremony for Princess Bajrakitiyabha's 50th Day

The Thai Parliament, comprising both the House of Representatives and the Senate, held merit-making ceremonies to commemorate the 50th day since the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. In the House of Representatives, the ceremony was attended by Speaker Sophon Saram, along with executives and officials from the Secretariat of the House of Representatives. The event began with the offering of incense and candles before the Buddha images, followed by chanting by ten Buddhist monks. After the chanting concluded, attendees offered alms to the monks and presented monastic robes (Thaitam). A prayer for remembrance was led by Phra Ratchawacharammasunthon, the abbot of Wat Sunthon Thamma-than, accompanied by monks from Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan. The ceremony concluded with a morning meal offered to the monks, expressing profound respect and gratitude towards the Princess. Panyasomwan refers to a merit-making ceremony held 50 days after a person's demise. Concurrently, the Senate, led by Speaker Mongkol Surasajja, First Vice-Speaker Gen. Krangklai Sirirak, and Second Vice-Speaker Boonchong Noisopon, along with senators, executives, and personnel, participated in a similar 50-day merit-making ceremony for Princess Bajrakitiyabha. This ceremony, held along the Chao Phraya River, included alms rounds by ten monks from Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan. The ceremonies were held to demonstrate loyalty and profound gratitude for the Princess's benevolence, providing an opportunity for senators, executives, and staff to perform good deeds and offer prayers in her memory. These events also aim to preserve Buddhist virtues and uphold Thailand's rich cultural heritage.
