Kirirohm National Park Officials Resume Demolition of Illegal Stalls

Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia -- Three illegally constructed roadside stalls and a toilet within the Preah Soramarith-Kirirom National Park in Phnom Sruoch district, Kampong Speu province, have been dismantled by park officials. The operation aims to curb unauthorized commercial activities and preserve the park's natural environment. On August 31, a team of 11 rangers from the Kirirohm National Park office conducted the demolition of these structures located around the Naga Pond roundabout. The unauthorized constructions were built without permits, obstructing the park's landscape. The removed structures included two stalls made of round wood with tent roofs, measuring 3 meters by 4 meters each, one smaller stall of similar construction measuring 2 meters by 3 meters, and a toilet facility covered with zinc roofing and walls, measuring 2 meters by 2 meters. Park authorities have stated their commitment to monitoring construction materials being transported into the Kirirohm mountain area to prevent further illegal construction.
