PAN Chairman Zulhas Explains Party's Third Consecutive Endorsement of Prabowo

Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan, also known as Zulhas, revealed the reasons behind his party's "hattrick" or third consecutive endorsement of Prabowo Subianto in the presidential elections from 2014 to 2024. During his speech at PAN's 28th anniversary event, which was also attended by Prabowo, Zulhas stated that PAN has gone through a long and winding journey with Prabowo. "The togetherness of PAN and Mr. Prabowo has gone through a long and winding history. Not just one presidential election cycle, but decades of struggling together," said Zulhas. Therefore, Zulhas continued, PAN no longer needs to prove its loyalty and steadfastness to the President, as it is already clear. After losing twice, it was only this time that they felt the victory. "Why do many ask, Mr. President, why or why is PAN always with Mr. Prabowo? Lost twice, and only now, thank God, we have won," he said. Zulhas recalled his conversation with Prabowo when they were about to support him again in the 2024 Presidential Election. At that time, Zulhas directly visited the Ministry of Defense's office when Prabowo was still the Minister of Defense. "Sir, even if Gerindra is alone, we are with you. Let's complete your struggle's ideals, God willing, this time it will succeed," Zulhas said, repeating his words to Prabowo at that time. Zulhas emphasized that he will always be loyal and support Prabowo. This is because his party shares the same aspirations for building the nation and realizing people's sovereignty. "Therefore, for three elections, why? Because there is a similarity in the values of struggle and aspirations in building the nation to realize national sovereignty, especially Article 33 and 34.
