Thailand Rejects Cambodian Border Claims, Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Dialogue

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Joint Information Center (JIC) has rejected a statement by the spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence regarding the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), stating that Thailand remains committed to resolving border issues peacefully through agreed bilateral mechanisms. The JIC indicated that Thailand continues to support the work of the JBC, the General Border Committee (GBC), and other agreed channels for addressing border issues, including joint survey and demarcation efforts. It also refuted allegations that Thai forces had occupied Cambodian territory, asserting that the claim does not reflect the facts and that Thailand’s actions are consistent with the Joint Statement agreed by both sides on December 27, 2025, aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining stability along the border. The center further stated that Thailand is ready to support JBC operations when conditions are suitable, adding that survey and demarcation work requires mutual trust, the safety of officials from both countries, and adherence to established technical procedures. It also urged all parties to avoid communications that could create misunderstandings within the international community. The JIC affirmed that Thailand will continue cooperating transparently with ASEAN observer teams by providing information and facilitating their work. The center called on all parties to use existing bilateral mechanisms to resolve border issues and allow survey and demarcation efforts to proceed safely and transparently for the benefit of people in both countries.
