Prabowo Affirms Strong Commitment to Poverty Alleviation Programs

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has declared a strong commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the poor, stating, "Our bias towards the poor is extraordinary." He emphasized that his administration is focused on poverty eradication. President Prabowo outlined several flagship programs aimed at tackling poverty. The first is the 'People's Schools' initiative under the Ministry of Social Affairs, designed for children from the poorest deciles. This program offers a total of Rp4 million per month, Kip (Indonesia Smart Indonesia Card) for students amounting to Rp1.2 million, living cost assistance of Rp800,000 to Rp1.4 million per month, and exemption from UKT (University Tuition Fees). Additionally, Prabowo mentioned the 'Staple Food Card' program, which provides assistance of Rp200,000 per month. This program is expected to benefit approximately 18 million families. He also highlighted the national health insurance, which currently covers about 96.8 million people, noting that this coverage is 20 times larger than Singapore's and 3.5 times larger than Malaysia's.
