Filinvest, Vivant Expand Retail Power Supply in Philippine Market

MANILA, Philippines — The Filinvest Group has signed a deal to supply 20 MW of electricity to a Vivant Energy retail unit, adding capacity to the country’s growing contestable power market. In a statement, FDC Misamis Power Corp., a major baseload electricity producer in Mindanao, said Friday that it had inked a two-year supply agreement with COREnergy. COREnergy serves qualified consumers under the government’s retail competition and open access program, which allows businesses and residential groups to choose their own power supplier instead of their local distribution utilities. “This partnership with COREnergy allows us to extend the dependable power supply of FDC Misamis to more commercial and industrial customers through the retail electricity market,” Juan Eugenio Roxas, president and CEO of FDC Misamis, said. It runs the FDC Misamis 3 x 135 MW circulating fluidized bed thermal power plant in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, with a total capacity of 405 MW.
