Thai Envoy Denies Embassy Delay in YouTuber's Georgia Death Case

Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeaw has denied allegations of a delay in the Thai Embassy's response to the death of popular Thai YouTuber Borwontat Pengsuk, who was known online as Holan Solo, in Georgia. According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the Thai Embassy only learned of Borwontat's death on July 28 or 29, although he passed away on July 14. However, he explained that the embassy's response was delayed because the official notification from Georgian authorities was received late. "The embassy performed its duties fully," he emphasized, refuting reports that claimed the embassy knew of the death on July 14 and did nothing. Embassy officials have also inquired about the reason for the delay in notification from Georgian authorities, asserting that they acted promptly. Currently, all necessary procedures, including investigating the cause of death and contacting the hotel, have been completed. Efforts are underway to expedite the process of repatriating the body to Thailand. However, it may be necessary to conduct forensic examinations, and the embassy must await the completion of these procedures.
