Rubber factory in Tachileik ordered to temporarily suspend operations due to foul odor

Mekong, September 24 It has been learned from local residents that the Eastern Platinum rubber factory, located in Wan Chaulon village, Phanmin village tract, Tachileik Township, Eastern Shan State, has been ordered to temporarily suspend operations by relevant authorities after local residents complained about smoke emissions from the use of coal and foul odors emanating from rubber raw materials. It was learned that the factory was instructed to temporarily suspend operations starting from 8 PM on September 22. According to factory officials, initial reports indicate that the factory operates daily with approximately 40 workers and produces about 200 tons of rubber per day. Currently, relevant authorities are investigating the situation of smoke and foul odor emissions from the factory, and it is not yet known when the factory will be able to resume operations. It has been reported that the foul odors from the rubber factory have spread to nearby villages and some neighborhoods in Tachileik city, causing dizziness, nausea, and difficulty breathing, with children and the elderly being particularly affected.
