Stung Treng Police Crack Down on 6 Drug Cases, Arrest 34 Suspects

A large-scale crackdown on drug offenses has been carried out in Cambodia's northeastern Stung Treng province, resulting in the arrest of 34 suspects. The operation was conducted by specialized forces of the provincial police over September 10th and 11th, targeting eight locations within the province. On the afternoon of September 13th, police presented all 34 arrested suspects. According to the announcement, six drug-related cases were uncovered during this operation. Among the arrested suspects, three are accused of drug trafficking, one of possession and use of narcotics, and the remaining 30 are implicated in illegal drug use. During the process, police also seized a significant amount of narcotic substances and related items as evidence. Brigadier General Sari Butsath, Police Commissioner of Stung Treng Province, stated that the crackdown was carried out under the command of National Police Chief General Sar Thet and with the attention of Provincial Governor Sor Soputra. Legal procedures were also coordinated with the Provincial Court Prosecutor's Office. The Commissioner indicated that the investigation will not stop with the arrest of these suspects but will continue to uncover accomplices and the original sources behind the offenses. Meanwhile, Provincial Governor Sor Soputra praised the efforts of the police forces for their timely crackdown on drug crimes, considering the operation a significant contribution to protecting the safety and well-being of the local population.
