PM Hun Manet Congratulates International Day of Indigenous Peoples, Emphasizing Midwives' Role and Traditional Knowledge

Prime Minister Hun Manet issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 32nd International Day of Indigenous Peoples and the 22nd observance in Cambodia, celebrated on August 9, 2026. The Prime Minister expressed his immense joy and joined in congratulating indigenous brothers and sisters throughout the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as globally, under the theme "Elevating the Role of Indigenous Midwives to Protect Lives and Promote Well-being." This theme emphasizes the preservation and maintenance of traditional knowledge and customs, aiming to contribute to the improvement of well-being within indigenous communities by integrating it with modern healthcare. In accordance with the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, the Cambodian government has made a strong commitment to promoting the rights and living standards of indigenous peoples, responding to the demands of inclusive development. Since 2005, the government has considered this day a valuable platform to enhance national solidarity and reflect its long-term vision of ensuring social harmony. The Prime Minister stated that despite having different traditions and beliefs, "we have one common goal: to build [...]," underscoring the importance of respecting and integrating diversity within Cambodian society.
