Cambodian Agriculture Minister Urges Local Government Teams to Strengthen Engagement with Citizens and Resolve Practical Issues

On the morning of Thursday, September 10, 2026, His Excellency Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Head of the Government Working Group for Local Bases in Banteay Meanchey Province, met with the Government Working Group for Local Bases in Chhnor Mean Chey Commune, Chhup Vari Commune, and Bos Sbov Commune, Preah Netr Preah District, Banteay Meanchey Province. The meeting aimed to review work progress and strengthen the effectiveness of the missions carried out at the local level. During the meeting, His Excellency Dith Tina emphasized the role of the Government Working Group for Local Bases as an effective bridge connecting the government and the people. This connection is to be achieved by directly engaging with citizens to listen to their opinions, requests, and challenges, and to find timely solutions that align with the actual local situation. Particular focus was placed on matters related to livelihoods, agriculture, natural resource utilization, and the enhancement of household economies. For rural areas, attention to agriculture and farmers' livelihoods is considered a crucial factor in maintaining household economic stability. In this regard, the local working group must continue to promote the dissemination of agricultural technical knowledge, increase productivity, reduce production costs, enhance product quality, and explore markets that can provide sustainable benefits to farmers. The Minister also stressed the importance of working with responsibility and transparency, as well as providing accurate information to the public. Responses to citizens' requests must be based on facts and actual problem-solving capabilities, with a continuous follow-up on work results, not just receiving and forwarding issues. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the working group to report on the situation and work results implemented in the three communes, as well as to raise challenges and requests that require support and coordination from the provincial and national levels.
