Massive Methamphetamine Seizure in Nakhon Phanom, Smuggled from Laos via Mekong River

In Nakhon Phanom province, northeastern Thailand, a large-scale methamphetamine smuggling operation has been busted. Approximately 300 kilograms of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of 60 million baht (approximately 2.5 billion JPY), were seized. Sources indicate that the drugs were believed to have been secretly transported from the Laotian side of the Mekong River and were discovered hidden along the riverbanks in Nakhon Phanom province. Authorities are expanding their investigation to uncover the organization behind this smuggling route. Thailand serves as a major transit and consumption point for narcotics flowing in from neighboring countries, and the government is intensifying its efforts to eradicate drugs. Border crackdowns, in particular, are a critical challenge in thwarting the activities of drug syndicates.
