Phnom Penh Authorities Appeal for Donations to Support Border Guard Units

Phnom Penh City Hall has issued a broad appeal to citizens for support towards military and police units engaged in border defense. This appeal comes as part of a慰問 (wèin wèn - comfort/visit) initiative by Phnom Penh authorities scheduled around the Pchum Ben festival, a significant ancestral veneration holiday, in late September. The city plans to visit units with which Phnom Penh has friendly relations, specifically the 3rd Intervention Division, the 9th Intervention Small Unit, the 793rd Border Protection Police Force (stationed in the Preah Vihear border area), and the 128th Intervention Small Unit (stationed in the Ou Alai area of Siem Pang district, Stung Treng province). To ensure the success of these visits and to demonstrate deep solidarity with the soldiers on the front lines, the city is requesting donations of cash, food, or other essential supplies from the public, including business people, investors, and philanthropists. These contributions are intended to support the heroic soldiers and to contribute to the development of strategic infrastructure along the border, in the cause of defending territorial integrity against invaders and promoting border development. Phnom Penh City Hall expresses its confidence in the spirit of generosity and solidarity from all potential donors. Donations can be delivered to the Finance Department of Phnom Penh City Hall during working hours, or transferred to designated bank accounts. This call for support highlights the security challenges Cambodia faces and underscores the importance of national unity.
