Large number of participants in Rakhine traditional Chin Koi competition

It has been learned from the Rakhine Traditional Chin Koi Competition Organizing Committee that a large number of participants competed in the Rakhine Traditional Chin Koi competition organized by the Yangon Region Government. The Chin competition was held at the Padetha Sports Stadium in the Town Uukkala Township. The competition categories were divided into two types: Silver Mao Tan and Gold Mao Tan. The reason for holding the Rakhine traditional Chin competition is to promote and preserve traditional culture, and it is held with the aim of enabling Chin athletes to participate in sports similar to Rakhine traditional Chin in the upcoming 2027 Southeast Asian Games. U Tin Aung, Chairman of the Myanmar Chin and Shiron Federation, said that over 160 participants competed in the Rakhine traditional Chin competition, and the number was unexpectedly large. Those who play Chin are called "Chin Tha" and in a Chin pair competition, two Chin Tha participate in the competition. It is understood that they compete in pairs, and winners and runners-up are selected in stages. Athletes who won gold and silver medals in the Rakhine traditional Chin competition said that holding such competitions helps preserve tradition and can also lead to the emergence of new generation players. In the Rakhine traditional Chin competition, the first prize for Silver Mao Tan was 2.5 million kyats and the second prize was 2 million kyats, while the first prize for Gold Mao Tan was 3.5 million kyats and the second prize was 2.5 million kyats. U Zaw Moe Htike, Chairman of the Thanlyin District Administration and Management Committee, U Kyaw Moe Thant, Director General of the Yangon Region Department of Sports and Physical Education, U Tin Aung, Chairman of the Myanmar Chin and Shiron Federation, and U Khin Thein Maung, a member of the Myanmar Chin and Shiron Federation, presented the prizes to the winners of the Rakhine traditional Chin competition.
