The work to block the Ngwanta low-lying area and prevent water overflow is nearing completion, according to Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw. He made these remarks on September 2nd at the guest house of the Directorate of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management in Henzada Township, during a meeting with relevant officials regarding the replanting of acres of farmland submerged due to the low-lying Ngwanta and water overflow in Lena Sa Township. He stated that as the water has receded, the necessary machinery, seeds, and fertilizers have already been prepared to enable the quickest possible replanting of crops. Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw said that as soon as the water recedes, efforts will be made to prioritize the plowing and planting of areas suitable for paddy cultivation, and that necessary preparations will also be made in advance for the cultivation of other crops such as green beans, chickpeas, and soybeans. Furthermore, he stated that teams comprising relevant departments need to be formed to quickly and accurately collect statistics and data on the ground regarding the areas where water has receded after flooding, the damaged acreage per farmer, the crops to be replanted, the need for seeds and fertilizers, the plowing and planting situation, and the availability of irrigation water. He also stated that the state has already provided the necessary support, and officials must closely supervise and push forward to ensure that the support is effective and does not result in any loss for the people.
