Ho Chi Minh City Leaders Visit and Honor Vietnamese Heroic Mothers
Ho Chi Minh City's Fatherland Front Committee visited and honored Vietnamese Heroic Mothers ahead of the Vietnamese War Dead and Fallen Heroes Day. This gesture underscores the city leadership's commitment to those who sacrificed for the nation and highlights their dedication to citizen welfare.
On July 18, a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, led by Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, visited and expressed gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (Mẹ Việt Nam Anh hùng) on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Vietnamese War Dead and Fallen Heroes Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026). This visit was an expression of respect and gratitude towards mothers who made significant sacrifices for the country. It reaffirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and its people consider the care for meritorious individuals and those who sacrificed as a "command from the heart." Under Vietnam's one-party system, honoring contributors to the nation and promoting social welfare are crucial elements for maintaining the Party's legitimacy and garnering public support. Vietnam's economy has achieved remarkable growth in recent years, primarily driven by export-oriented manufacturing and foreign direct investment (FDI). However, the benefits of this growth tend to be concentrated in urban areas, highlighting disparities with rural regions and the need for investment in social welfare. This gesture of honoring Heroic Mothers can be interpreted as a reflection of the emphasis placed on social inclusivity and the spiritual well-being of the people, alongside economic development. Vietnam's relationship with China is economically close, yet it also presents complexities, particularly concerning issues like the South China Sea. In such circumstances, strengthening domestic unity and fostering patriotism are indispensable for national stability. Expressing gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers also serves as an opportunity to enhance national pride and reaffirm loyalty to the country. Source: Nhan Dan
