Cambodia Signs Strategic Cooperation MoU with China's COMAC in Civil Aviation

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Shen Bo, Chairman and CEO of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), during his working visit to the People's Republic of China for the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026, held from July 15-17, 2026. COMAC is an enterprise focused on research and development of commercial aircraft, with key models including the C919 and C909. During the meeting, Shen Bo informed the Prime Minister about COMAC's business operations and its collaborations with various partner companies in Cambodia. He emphasized that COMAC's cooperation with Cambodia extends beyond aircraft sales to encompass maintenance services and human resource training for personnel and officials in Cambodia's civil aviation sector, aiming to ensure business success and contribute to the sector's modernization. To formalize this partnership, COMAC is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation in civil aviation with the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation of Cambodia on July 17, 2026. This MoU is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening Cambodia's civil aviation capabilities through technology transfer, human resource development, airport maintenance development, and technical support. It aims to enhance the capacity of Cambodia's national airline, expand air connectivity, and boost Cambodia's regional competitiveness. In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet warmly welcomed COMAC's successful business operations in Cambodia, particularly its partnership with Air Cambodia. He expressed support for the strategic initiatives and plans with the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation and Air Cambodia, aimed at developing human resource capabilities to make Cambodia's civil aviation sector more modern and highly competitive both regionally and globally. The Prime Minister also highlighted the Cambodian government's readiness to facilitate various work processes between COMAC and relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation.
